The idea

The Andes at dusk, lit from within.

Nama serves Nikkei cuisine, where Japanese technique meets the landscape of Peru, and this renovation takes its cue from the same dialogue. The concept board sets terraced Andean fields, a mountain ridge glowing at dusk and wind-drawn sand side by side. The restaurant turns them into a room of layered, earth-coloured light.

A ridge-line landscape, painted onto gridded panels and lit from behind, wraps the dining room like a horizon. The bar counter is backlit onyx, its veining read as strata. Woven cylindrical columns filter light into the seating, and brass pendants shaped like folded leaves arc over the tables on slender arms.

Below a slatted walnut ceiling, rust-toned banquettes, patterned chairs and small amber lamps divide the floor into booths without closing it off. Palms rise between the tables, and the light stays low and warm, for long evenings.

About the project

Onyx, walnut and amber after dark

The bar greets guests at the door, its counter glowing beside the open shelves and the disc wall. The dining room lies beyond, given its pace by the woven columns and the arcs of the brass pendants, with the lit landscape closing the far end. Closer in, the banquettes form booths around the tables, where the scale drops and the details come into focus: tufted channels, terracotta leather and small lamps.

Backlit onyx makes the bar counter a source of light as much as a surface. Walnut runs through the walls, ceiling and joinery, a single warm timber that holds the room together. Amber glass forms the disc screen at the bar, tinting the light gold. The painted landscape on its lit panels gives the dining room a horizon. Nama is in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
