Private Chalet, Lebanon

Private Chalet
The idea

Oak, sheer glass and green hills.

This private chalet in Lebanon is a single open room wrapped in glass, with sheer curtains drawn along its full height and the green hills beyond. Pale timber floors run throughout, and a tall block of oak holds the kitchen on one side and open shelving on the other, lit from within and stacked with books and bottles.

A white marble island with black stools faces the living area, where a grey sectional with teal and lime cushions sits around low dark tables. In the corner, a banquette and a small table under a line of brass pendants make a place to eat with the view on two sides.

About the project

A single room, lit by the landscape

The chalet is entered straight into its main room, and the landscape is present from the first step. The kitchen and its shelving form a solid core on one side, so cooking, storage and display are gathered together and the rest of the floor stays free. The living area opens towards the windows, and the route ends at a corner set aside for meals, where seating is built in and the view surrounds the table.

Oak gives the room its warmth. On the kitchen block it becomes lit shelving, with light set into the joinery so the wood glows in the evening. White marble tops the island, a cool, hard surface that contrasts with the timber. On the sofa, grey upholstery is lifted by teal and lime, echoing the greens outside. Sheer curtains run the height of the glass walls, filtering daylight and giving privacy without losing the hills. The chalet is in Lebanon.
