Arrival is through the hall, among curved columns, with the formal majlis close by under its chandelier. The dining room follows, its long table set between murals and lit shelves. In the family living room, the stair and a library wall rising floor to ceiling define the space. The office and lounge are quieter. A second majlis, larger than the first, has long tables beneath sculptural pendants. Then come the master suite, the gym and the children's playroom.
Textured plaster covers the curved columns and walls; its surface catches the light and keeps the large rooms soft. Walnut panelling and joinery run through the house, tying the rooms together. The botanical murals fill the dining corners with colour and detail. Crimson is kept for the powder room walls, a concentrated dose of colour. In this Abu Dhabi residence, marble appears at the bedside in the master suite, and timber frames its bathroom.
