The house opens with the majlis, a high space where the seating gathers in a circle on the rug and the room reaches its full height at one end, glazed from floor to ceiling. Plants and bottles are held in a metal screen. The private side follows in the bedroom, where a lit wall curves around the space, a slatted screen stands behind the bed, and a sofa and dressing table complete the room.
Teal knit and linen cushions bring the colours of the sea onto the white majlis sofas, mixing a soft weave with lighter cloth. In the bedroom, timber slats line the curved wall, lit from behind so the light rises and falls along its length. A geometric rug in blues anchors the bed and bench. Overhead, a chandelier of glass globes on brass catches the light and adds a warmer metal to the cooler palette. The beach house is in Sharjah, UAE.
